How to play Saturday Lotto

Simply choose 6 numbers between 1 and 45. If the numbers are drawn, you win. It’s as simple as that.

There are six prize divisions so you don't actually need to match all the numbers to win.

Division 1: All six main winning numbers
Division 2: Any 5 main winning numbers and either supplementary number
Division 3: Any 5 main winning numbers
Division 4: Any 4 main winning numbers
Division 5: Any 3 main winning numbers and either supplementary number
Division 6: Any 1 or 2 main winning numbers and both supplementary numbers

The odds of winning Saturday Lotto

While it is commonly reported that the odds of winning are truly terrible at 1 in 8,145,060, this figure is somewhat misleading and is generally thrown around by those with an axe to grind against gambling in general. True, for any particular 6 number combination that is the odds of winning the first division major prize, but it skips over the two rather important facts, 1. That you don’t need to match all six numbers to win and 2. That nobody actually only plays just the one game.

The actual odds as per the official Tatts Lotto site can be seen below. At 12 to 1, the odds of you winning something are quite a bit better than the 1 in 8 million chance that the fun police like to keep going on about.

My Message on responsible gambling

Even though most of society tends to see playing Lotto as just a bit of harmless fun that isn’t in the same class as hard gambling, a position that I happen to agree with, it is none the less a form of gambling. So, to that end I am not trying to encourage you to gamble more than you can afford. What I am trying to say is that if you can afford to play, don’t let anybody nag you into feeling guilty about it. Yes, we all know the odds of winning the jackpot are tiny but you know what, it really doesn’t matter. If you’re not in it, you can’t win it! Good Luck everyone.
