Powerball Lotto

Powerball lotto, 2013, the year of change, with fewer balls and more prize divisions the chances of winning have substantially improved, something of which I most definitely approve.

How to play Powerball Lotto

Choose 6 numbers between 1 and 40 and then 1 Powerball between 1 and 20. If the numbers are drawn, you win. It’s as simple as that.

There are 8 prize divisions so you don't actually need to match all of the numbers to win.

Division 1: 6 winning numbers + the Powerball
Division 2: 6 winning numbers
Division 3: 5 winning numbers + the Powerball
Division 4: 5 winning numbers
Division 5: 4 winning numbers + the Powerball
Division 6: 3 winning numbers + the Powerball
Division 7: 4 winning numbers
Division 8: 2 winning numbers + the Powerball

The odds of winning Powerball Lotto

With the recent reduction in the number of both main and power balls, the chances of winning Powerball Lotto have improved no end. Even so, the odds remain long enough to ensure some truly enormous jackpots are produced while keeping the chance of winning a lower division quite attainable.

My Message on responsible gambling

Even though most of society tends to see playing Lotto as just a bit of harmless fun that isn’t in the same class as hard gambling, a position that I happen to agree with, it is none the less a form of gambling. So, to that end I am not trying to encourage you to gamble more than you can afford. What I am trying to say is that if you can afford to play, don’t let anybody nag you into feeling guilty about it. Yes, we all know the odds of winning the jackpot are tiny but you know what, it really doesn’t matter. If you’re not in it, you can’t win it! Good Luck everyone.
